I have been involved in art since childhood. Growing up with artists in the family I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. I never stopped. Over the years I experimented with multiple mediums including various illustration techniques, copper enameling, silk screening, macramé, weaving, pottery, stained glass, metals and beaded jewelry.I attended San Diego State where I received a BA in advertising art in 1976. As a graphic designer and art/creative director I worked in and owned advertising/graphic design businesses. My beginnings in graphics were before computers were involved and everything was done by hand. I do use computers and still do graphics but focus on illustration and design. In 1999 I started free-hand etching (engraving) dichroic glass using my illustration skills to create unique one-of-a-kind glass pieces. The very colorful creations have a very graphic quality and range from wearable art to decorator pieces. I have added metal work and anodizing to my pieces and love combining colored metals with my engraved glass. It’s been a wonderful artistic journey so far, I can’t wait to see where technology, imagination, tools and experimentation will take me in the future. You can find me hand-etching dichroic glass when I am in studio #9.
