San Diego coastal resident Dot Renshaw paints the dramatic shadows of early morning or the fleeting light of dusk. She chooses locations others might miss-small trails, neighborhood canyons, and the juxtaposition of urban life against the delicacy of nature. Her work has a visceral presence allowing the viewer to sense the temperature, atmospheric conditions, and time of day that the painting was completed on site (plein-air).
Born in Ventura and a Pacific Beach resident for nearly 50 years, she remains connected to the coastal environment. Dot is classically trained with a B.A. in fine art and Masters in art education. She has participated in various invitationals with her oil and pastel paintings.
