Pottery has so much potential. First, I throw and manipulate on the wheel, then add hand-built elements, so each piece is unique. Choosing the metamorphosis that occurs with a crystalline glaze adds its own unexpected and striking finish. Crystalline glazes are formed when zinc and silica combine at high temperatures and start to form crystals in the matrix of the glaze. I continually probe for new and more refined ways to capture this fluidity of clay, glaze, and fire.
