Southwestern Artists’ Association was founded in 1949 as a painters’ guild with a juried membership of fifty local artists. SWAA believes the arts are an important part of the life of a healthy community. Our mission is to maintain a working painter’s art studio that extends friendships and promotes art knowledge amongst San Diego County artists.
In Studio 23, Southwestern Artists’ Association, exhibits original, fine art paintings monthly. The featured artists (Two-Artists Show and the smaller Alcove Show) are changed bi-monthly on the 1st and 16th. The gallery’s gift shop displays unique, handcrafted items; jewelry, glasswork, sculpture, polymer clay, wood carvings, miniature paintings, and greeting cards.
Monthly, on the first Monday, Southwestern Artists’ Association holds demonstrations of a variety of art media, sales techniques, or new painting products after our business meeting. The public is welcome to join in. Please visit our website for more information.
